Background
We have been serving as a small team in Israel for eight years now and have seen a number of individuals helped through the power of God.
From 1980 to 1990 I worked in London as an ambulance technician, caring for those who had been traumatized through acutely painful events. I would be the first on scene to deal with whatever I found, from car accidents to abuse. I can remember one emergency I went to – a suspected suicide. It was four o’clock in the morning. As I knelt down to help the unconscious woman a question came into my mind. The Bible talks of a God who heals: “I am the Lord who heals thee (Ex 15:26).” If this was the case then why was I not seeing God healing today?
This started me on a journey which eventually took me out of the ambulance service and into Ellel Ministries, which was bringing God’s healing into peoples lives. I spent ten years with this ministry helping those who had been badly abused or traumatized. In Isaiah 58:6-9 we read that as you extend your hand to the needy so it will be to you as the dawn. The most incredible thing happened. As I sought to help others God healed me. For many years I had been the professional taking care of others. I had not realized how much the trauma that I experienced had affected me. And so, as I reached out to others, God took me through a time of deep healing. I had not realized that I had shut down emotionally, or that my spirit had been damaged through what I witnessed.
The teaching on the courses is biblical and comes with twenty years of experience. My prayer is that God will use what we have learned and teach us as we continue to help those who are broken and hurting.
